  1. Westminster Abbey is a Gothic church in 
  2. central London, officially the Collegiate 
  3. Church of St Peter. It was built 1050-1745 
  4. and consecrated under Edward the Confessor in 
  5. 1065. The west towers are by Nicholas 
  6. Hawksmoor, completed after his death 1745. 
  7. Since William I nearly all English monarchs 
  8. have been crowned in the abbey, and several 
  9. are buried there.
